Annual Review of Insurance Law Appellate Opinions

Annual Review of Insurance Law Appellate Opinions

This seminar benefits both those who primarily practice insurance law and those who do not.  Insurance practitioners will add to and strengthen (by review) their knowledge of current authority. Counsel that do not primarily practice insurance law require knowledge of it as it intersects with their specialty, e.g., bodily/personal injury, malpractice, intellectual property, construction, healthcare/ERISA, etc..

Each practice will benefit from attending this seminar which will cover current decisions that impact:

I.    FIRST PARTY COVERAGE:  including property damage and health (ERISA, Worker’s Compensation, Medicare/Medicaid/Medi-Cal)
II.    THIRD PARTY COVERAGE:   including the duty to defend/provide independent counsel, the duty to settle, and all forms of liability policies (commercial general, professional (errors and omissions/malpractice), directors and officers, and title insurance).
III.    IMPLIED COVENANT OF GOOD FAITH AND FAIR DEALING.
IV.    GENERAL ISSUES:  including insurance applications, policy interpretation, primary/umbrella/excess coverage, contribution/subrogation, agents/brokers, and issues counsel should consider when presenting claims or representing the insurer (and practicing in general).
V.    CASES/ISSUES PENDING BEFORE THE SUPREME COURT.
