ROPERS MAJESKI OPENS MIAMI OFFICE WITH ADDITIONS OF JOSE AND ALEXANDER ROJAS Firm’s Ninth U.S. Office, Eleventh Worldwide

4/5/2019

Miami – April 5, 2019 – Ropers Majeski, a multi-service law firm offering litigation and transactional services nationally and internationally, has opened a Miami office, bringing in intellectual property and complex commercial litigator, Jose I. Rojas as the Office Managing Partner and Alexander F. Rojas as an associate.

“Latin America, Miami and South Florida are important markets for our firm, and given our current client needs, we felt that establishing a presence with exceptional talent was essential,” said Ropers Majeski Chairman Michael Ioannou. “We are pleased that Jose and Alex, both with deep roots in the Miami legal and business community, have joined the firm and jumped in quickly to tackle ongoing client demand and to give us a strong presence in the region.”

Jose Rojas is a member of Ropers Majeski’s Intellectual Property and Litigation practice areas. With more than 30 years of experience in complex civil litigation and intellectual property matters, Rojas concentrates on resolving or trying – before juries, arbitrators and state and federal judges – complex financial and business disputes, international commercial disagreements and intellectual property and technology-related lawsuits. He also serves as a neutral in mediations. Valued for his IP and insurance insights, Rojas provides outside “risk management” counsel to several clients in South Florida.

Active in the community, Rojas is past-chair of the International Business Committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and serves as a member of the Board of Governors of the Chamber. He also serves, by appointment of the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, as a member of the Florida District Export Council and is its current vice chair. He is rated AV Preeminent (5.0) by Martindale-Hubbell.  Rojas is a founder and past president of the Miami Catholic Lawyers Guild, a member of the Dade County Bar Association and its Federal Court Committee and a member of the Cuban American Bar Association. He is an honors graduate of the University of Miami Law School (J.D., 1981) and the University of Florida (B.A., 1978).

“Ropers Majeski is a perfect fit for me, and I’m excited to help the firm expand its footprint, especially in Latin America and here in South Florida,” said Rojas. With the Firm’s roots in Silicon Valley, we can bring the experience and access to South Florida to help the emerging local and international tech community. “Ropers’ international platform and broad client base complement my practice and give it a true runway for growth.”

Alexander Rojas focuses on intellectual property and complex civil litigation, including trademarks, trade secrets and other financial and commercial matters. Admitted to practice in both Florida and Illinois, Rojas has jury trial experience and has handled a number of matters in state and federal courts. He has also worked in-house, including at a Fortune Global 500 company, where he analyzed and summarized complex contracts in connection with major transactions. In addition to Rojas’ command of the litigation process, clients frequently tap him to provide counseling around proactive intellectual property protection. He graduated, cum laude, from Chicago-Kent College of Law, while simultaneously attaining a certificate in intellectual property (J.D., 2015). He also served as Senior Associate Editor of the school’s Journal of Intellectual Property. Rojas also graduated, magna cum laude, from Florida International University Honors College (B.A., 2012).
