Ropers Majeski Announces New Partners Firmwide


Seven Associates Elevated Throughout the Firm’s Four California Offices

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – June 23, 2002 – Ropers Majeski Kohn & Bentley, a multi-service law firm offering litigation and transactional services domestically and internationally, has elevated seven associates to partner in the firm’s four California offices. In Northern California, the new partners include Enrique Marinez (Redwood City), Robert S. McLay (San Jose), Lois H. Yoshida (San Jose), and Pamela J. Zanger (San Francisco). In the firm’s Los Angeles office, the new partners are Bradley P. Boyer, Gerald B. Malanga, and Maureen O’Hara.
“I am excited to welcome these outstanding attorneys to the partnership,” said Rick Wilson, firmwide managing partner. “Our strategic plan for the future includes growing the practice areas across the board in all of our offices. The talent of each of these attorneys will certainly help us achieve that goal.”

Northern California
The firm’s Northern California offices, including Redwood City, San Jose and San Francisco, elevated four of the seven attorneys, including:

Enrique Marinez, Redwood City – Practicing in the areas of insurance coverage, insurance bad faith and litigation, Marinez has been with Ropers Majeski since 1998 after a five-year stint with the Los Angeles and
Ropers Majeski, New Partners, Monterey County Public Defenders office, where he practiced as a defense attorney. Marinez received his J.D. from the Whittier School of Law in 1992 and attended Occidental College for his undergraduate studies.

Robert S. McLay, San Jose – Specializing in the defense of insurers in contractual and extra-contractual litigation, McLay’s practice includes the defense of insurance agents and brokers in both Northern and Southern California. Prior to joining Ropers Majeski, McLay served as a former Claim Specialist with State Farm Fire & Casualty Company. His emphasis was in first and third party claims in both personal and commercial lines of insurance. McLay received his J.D. from Ventura College of Law in 1995 and conducted his undergraduate studies at Westmont College.

Lois H. Yoshida, San Jose – Yoshida specializes in multi-state products liability defense and has advised clients, both on a national and local level. Additionally, she handles intellectual property, commercial and general business litigation and medical malpractice cases. She is also a member of the firm’s mass tort/claim action team defending consumer class actions. Previously, she served as an attorney in the Office of the General Counsel for a major automobile corporation. Yoshida received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1991 and attended the University of California, Berkeley for her undergraduate studies.

Pamela J. Zanger, San Francisco – Zanger practices in the areas of commercial litigation and insurance bad faith litigation. Her practice includes representation of financial institutions in cases involving consumer fraud. She received her J.D. from the University of San Francisco in 1993 and attended Santa Clara University as an undergraduate.

Southern California
The firm’s Los Angeles office elevated the following associates to partner:

Bradley P. Boyer – Boyer’s litigation practice encompasses the areas of entertainment, business, construction, intellectual property and bad faith. Boyer earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego in 1995 and his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University.

Gerald B. Malanga – Focusing on commercial litigation, real property dispute and general tort litigation, Malanga also assists business clients in reorganization and debt restructuring/workouts. He has been with the firm since 1996. Prior to his law career, Malanga owned and operated a successful food brokerage firm. Malanga received his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1993 and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California.

Maureen O’Hara – O’Hara practices in the area of complex litigation defense with an emphasis on bad faith and professional liability. Prior to joining Ropers Majeski, O’Hara was an attorney at Tharpe & Howell, where her defense practice included employer liability, professional liability and personal injury matters. O’Hara earned her J.D from Lincoln Law School in 1991 and her undergraduate degree from U.C. Santa Barbara.
