Oracle/Google Trial Puts Farella Partner in Odd Spot

The Recorder - 4/16/2012

By Ginny LaRoe

Partner Neil Smith was quoted in the article “Oracle/Google Trial Puts Farella Partner in Odd Spot.” Smith commented on U.S. District Judge William Alsup’s “unprecedented step” of bringing in an attorney, Farella Braun & Martel Partner John Cooper, to represent court-appointed damages expert James Kearl in Oracle’s patent infringement case against Google – a trial that’s been dubbed by Alsup as the “World Series of IP cases.” Smith called the decision “a creative way of managing trial in the already established proper use of a neutral expert” and likely helping the “flow and control of the trial.” The full article can be viewed (subscription required) at the link here.
