JENNIFER E. ACHESON

EXPERIENCE

Jennifer E. Acheson is a partner in the appellate, insurance coverage and bad faith departments at RMKB. As a trial attorney she has also obtained defense verdicts in coverage, fraud and bad faith cases on behalf of insurers. Ms. Acheson is also a trained mediator recently appointed to the California Department of Insurance Mediation Program Mediator Panel.  Ms. Acheson also regularly serves as judge pro tem, has served as an arbitrator and discovery referee for San Mateo and Santa Clara County Superior Courts. She was a general plan committee member 1993 – 1996, and planning commissioner 1996 - 2004 for the Town of Atherton, California.  

Ms. Acheson is admitted to practice before all of the courts of the State of California, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern,  Central, and Southern Districts of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Northern California.  She is a member of the California Bar Association, San Mateo County Bar Association, Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada, Claims & Litigation Management Alliance, Association for Dispute Resolution of Northern California, and Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center.

Ms. Acheson attended college at Beirut College for Women, Lebanon, and University of Kansas. As a Fulbright Scholar, she studied at La Sorbonne, France, followed by law school at University of San Francisco, graduating in 1985. Before entering private practice, Ms. Acheson worked for the San Mateo County Superior Court judges as a staff/research attorney. She then joined the law firm of Low, Ball and Lynch in Redwood City where she handled SIU insurance coverage claims and became a shareholder before joining RMKB.
