Jennifer E. Acheson is a partner in the appellate, insurance coverage and bad faith departments of RMKB. As a trial attorney she has obtained defense verdicts in coverage, fraud and bad faith cases on behalf of insurers. Ms. Acheson is peer rated AV® by Martindale-Hubbell.
Ms. Acheson is also a Pepperdine University Straus School of Law Institute for Dispute Resolution trained mediator who has also participated in extensive court mediations and training with Alameda County’s SEEDS Community Resolution Center, and San Mateo County’s Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center. She was recently appointed to the California Department of Insurance Mediation Program Mediator Panel for the resolution of first party insurance coverage disputes. Ms. Acheson also regularly serves as judge pro tem in San Mateo County Superior Court, and has served as an arbitrator and discovery referee for San Mateo and Santa Clara County Superior Courts. She was appointed as a general plan committee member (1993 – 1996) with responsibilities for drafting and revising Town ordinances, and planning commissioner (1996 – 2004) with responsibilities for reviewing and approving residential and educational building applications, for the Town of Atherton, California.
Ms. Acheson is admitted to practice before all of the courts of the State of California, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Central, and Southern Districts of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She is a member of the California Bar Association, San Mateo County Bar Association, Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada, Claims & Litigation Management Alliance, Association for Dispute Resolution of Northern California, and Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center. Ms. Acheson attended Beirut College for Women, American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and University of Kansas. As a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship, she studied at La Sorbonne and taught at l’École Supérieure de Commerce in Paris, France, followed by University of San Francisco School of Law. Ms. Acheson served as a staff research attorney for the San Mateo County Superior Court Judges. She first entered private practice at the law firm of Low, Ball and Lynch in Redwood City where she handled insurance coverage, bad faith and SIU insurance claims at trial and appellate levels, becoming a shareholder before joining RMKB.
