EXPERIENCE
Chi-Hung A. Chan was born in Taipei, Taiwan and grew up in Hong Kong. He graduated from St. John's University of Minnesota in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Accounting. In 1972, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh of Pennsylvania with a M.B.A in the concentration of International Business. In 1981, he also graduated from Santa Clara University with a law degree.
Chi-Hung speaks five languages fluently: English, Mandarin, Taiwanese, Cantonese, and Japanese. He has an intimate knowledge of business cultures in US and China and is well regarded by the San Francisco Chinese community. His practice focuses on corporate transactions, international matters, real estate and immigration. His practice also includes advising US and Asian clients in business and trial matters covering the geographical areas of USA, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan and Japan.
Chi-Hung is recognized with the prestigious AV Peer Review Rated in Martindale-Hubbell Peer recognition review. He was also named as “Top Lawyers in the Bay Area “in corporate transaction as featured in Bay Area Magazine – January/February 2006.
Chi-Hung is currently a Foreign Lawyer with Liau, Ho & Chan Solicitors, a Hong Kong solicitor firm, and the Overseas Representative for Shanghai Foreign Service Company in Shanghai. He is also a member of the Hong Kong Law Society (Registered Foreign Lawyer), Hong Kong Mediation Association (AMA), and American Immigration Lawyer Association (AILA). He was the Founding Director and President of HKSV.com and the Advisor for Institute of International and Comparative Law at Santa Clara University. He also served as the Director of the Asian Neighborhood Arts Commission in San Francisco, the Founding Director for the Hong Kong Association of Northern California (in San Francisco) from 1989-1993 and from 2003-2007; the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Kai Ming Head Start, Inc. (in San Francisco) from 1983-1990; the Director for Notre Dame High School (in Belmont, California) from 1989-1993; the Director for San Francisco-Shanghai Sister City Business School Committee, and the Director of the Palo Alto Go Club, from 1991-1993.
