EXPERIENCE

Gemma L. Mondala is an Associate in the Redwood City office. Her area of practice is broad but focuses primarily on insurance defense, business litigation and complex litigation matters. Ms. Mondala's experience includes the defense of insureds against claims related to automobile accidents, premises liability, products liability, slip/trip and falls, dog bites, toxic torts and construction defects. She has also represented business clients in enforcing and defending against breach of contract and business tort claims (i.e. intentional interference with contract and business advantage, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, fraud and misrepresentation) as well as claims involving breaches of fiduciary duties.

During law school, Ms. Mondala was one of two student attorneys who represented a community group in environmental injustice claims against Onondaga County, New York. She co-drafted a Title VI complaint which was filed with and one of the very few that were accepted for investigation by the Environmental Protection Agency. As a graduate student, Ms. Mondala externed at Clear Channel-Syracuse and assisted in the implementation of business proposals and plans which she had a hand in creating. Prior to studying and practicing law, Ms. Mondala was involved in the organization, promotion and marketing of numerous special events and concerts in California, Hawaii, New York, Nevada and Texas. A native of San Francisco, she is always actively involved in promoting local artists, musicians and performers.

Ms. Mondala graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelor of Arts degree, With Distinction, in Political Science. She graduated from Syracuse University College of Law in 2005, where she was a member of the Frederick Douglas Moot Court and Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Teams. She also obtained her Corporate Counsel Certificate; was a Dean's Scholar; and a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity. Additionally, in 2005, Ms. Mondala received her Masters of Science in Media Management from Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management and S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Ms. Mondala is a member of the State Bar of California, the State Bar of Nevada and the San Mateo County Bar Association Diversity Committee. She is admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Nevada; United States District Court for the Southern, Northern, Central and Eastern Districts of California; and United States Courts of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
