EXPERIENCE
John G. Dooling’s practice consists of general trial work and transactional work for business entities and individuals. His trial practice includes experience in commercial, real estate, professional liability, construction, employment, trademark and copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition, and general liability in the California State Courts and the Northern District of California.
Mr. Dooling also represents privately held companies in the capacity as outside general counsel; which includes commercial, construction, real estate and employment litigation and transactional work; including but not limited to, formation, drafting of buy-sell, operating, licensing and employment agreements. He also has significant experience in the representation of entities in every aspect of the purchase, sale and development of real property and the drafting and review of commercial leases.
Mr. Dooling is a native San Franciscan who received his undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco, where he was the recipient of a four-year Harney Foundation Scholarship. While at USF, John earned varsity letters in baseball, golf and crew. Subsequent to his graduation from USF, John obtained a Real Estate Brokers License, which he keeps active, and sold real estate for Merrill Lynch. He also owned and operated a popular sports restaurant and bar in San Francisco from 1990 to 1996. During this time John attended evening law school at San Francisco Law School and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence and was admitted to practice in 1991.
Outside the firm, John lives in San Francisco with his wife Eileen (a Jersey girl), their daughter Elizabeth, and his Australian sheepdog Bogey.
John serves as a director for the Olympic Club and he is a member of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. He is a past director of numerous non-profit entities; including, but not limited to, the Janet Pomeroy Center, the Hibernian Newman Club, University of San Francisco Inn of Court, San Mateo Legal Aid Society; volunteers at St. Anne’s Home, and has taught law-related classes at local high schools since his admission.
