EXPERIENCE
Kathleen Duggan is Of Counsel in the Firm’s San Francisco office where she practices dental and medical malpractice defense. Her specialty practice covers areas that include medical devices, psychiatric and pharmacology; defending, doctors, dentists, physical therapy clinics, nurses, oral surgeons, orthodontists, and emergency room physicians. Kathleen also has extensive experience in product liability; class action; and a variety of industry personal injury cases, including the successful defense of two wrongful death cases. Dental and Medical Board actions, including sale of practice disputes, are also included in her practice.
With more than 20 years of experience and 18 jury trials to verdict, 200 arbitrations and hundreds of mediations, Kathleen is a seasoned dental and medical litigator able to take a case from its inception to trial and to post-trial appeal, as necessary. She is adept at early case analysis and development to obtain a swift and early case assessment to secure the best experts and immediate case plan. Kathleen has established strong relationships with an experienced team of specialists, including members from each field of practice who are good expert witnesses for both case analysis and trial testimony.
Kathleen is the author of several articles in her area of specialty and offers educational seminars to various specialty groups, as needed. She received her law degree from Golden Gate University, San Francisco in 1982. Prior to entering law school, she earned undergraduate degrees in biology and nursing from California State University, San Jose and practiced as a California Registered Nurse. Due to her prior nursing practice and her ongoing litigation practice, Kathleen has a strong background in pharmacology, medicine, surgery, anatomy and physiology and is able to read and interpret radiologic films.
She is a member of the State Bar of California, the San Mateo County Bar Association and the Bar Association of San Francisco.
