EXPERIENCE
Prior to joining Ropers, Matt Zumstein worked at another well-respected firm in San Francisco where his practice focused on products liability and toxic tort litigation, with an emphasis on defending asbestos-related lawsuits. In this capacity, he represented a broad variety of clients, including manufacturers of complex industrial equipment, general contractors and premises owners. He is an experienced litigation attorney who has defended numerous environmental and toxic injury claims involving asbestos, silica, benzene, and other airborne and water-borne contaminants.
Mr. Zumstein was a prosecutor for Santa Clara County where he gained over 6 years of extensive jury and court trial experience taking more than 35 cases to jury verdict. He was the Chairperson of the Criminal Justice Committee for the Santa Clara County Network for a Hate Free Community and has lectured and taught on issues pertaining to Hate Crimes in California.
Mr. Zumstein is experienced in taking and defending expert and percipient witness depositions; and preparing and arguing law and motion matters. The majority of his practice involves the representation of developers and general contractors in all aspects of business operations. This includes but is not limited to building design and construction defects; disruption and acceleration disputes; earth movement claims; and building product claims. Mr. Zumstein handles a variety of matters relating to the design and construction of facilities, mechanic’s liens, and real estate and development contracts. His practice involves all aspects of construction litigation and transactions including claims for insurance coverage, delay claims, contract disputes, and personal injury.
